Hello Sambarians,
Still using Sambar
This "How To" is for Sambar 7.1 beta 5 on Windows.
The steps will show how to overcome a bug in webmail to use the contact list in the Desktop as address book for Webmail, as it is suppose to be.
Step 1
Go into admin area and create an user account as usual, but without creating the mailbox for the user, even the user should get one.
Step 2
Login to the "Desktop" with the user credentials and create the "privat" directory by creating a contact list. This step is important. After that logout.
Step 3
Go again into the admin area, open the user account and create the user mailbox by ticking the appropiate box at the bottom of the page. Hit "Update user account". This step has now created a mailbox in \sambar\mail\mbox with the username as directory name.
Step 4
Login to the "Desktop" with the user credentials, open "Webmail", go to "Addressbook". This should bring up the "Contacts" which we created in Step 2. From now on the user can use "Contacts" as the addressbook from his account and from within "Webmail".
If desired, enter addresses in the global addressbook ( admin area > mail > contacts )and those addresses will be visible to the user in his "Contacts". The global addressbook is admistered only from the admin area and the user is not able to delete entries.
